To the Glacier and back - August 16

On August 16 we joined a few other hiking enthusiasts for a day hike up to the glacier.
We had done part of the Glacier Gulch previously but this time we aimed to get right to the glacier to walk on it and check it out up close, a 2 to 3 hour hike.
We set out reasonably early. By time the day started to warm up we had made it through the forested trail onto the rocky slopes. It was slow going but with fantastic scenery.
The second part of the trip was on loose rock and shale along a steep slope. Closer to the glacier the incline leveled off and the rock became sturdier.
When we came to some large patch of snow Ian slipped and slid down to the rocks. He split the skin on his knee and couldn't go any further. Some of the team went on to walk on the glacier. We touched the base and checked out the stream that would become Twin Falls.
The decent was  hard on the leg muscles. Ian made it down fine but needed stitches to patch his knee.
