The earth shook

No. Not an earthquake. 
A massive cottonwood came down across the driveway early morning. It was loud and shocking enough to wake me up. There was not a sigh of wind and yet the mighty has fallen.
What does that say about my carefully taken positions, and the things I trust in?

My trusty chainsaw could handle this fallen giant well enough. It took time to cut through the base that blocked the driveway. Once that was done it required a tractor and two gravel trucks to get all of that wood out of there. It was no good keeping it for firewood. Too large, too wet, too poor quality. Pity. If it had been a nice big pine that would have heated the house for a good part of the winter.
Now, there is still another tree like that beside de driveway. It is at least as big and not altogether straight. It might be just as unstable as this one, or last another 20 years.
