Last week was Wilma's birthday. She had opportunity to fly out to the Fraser Valley to be at Amy's graduation on Friday. It was exciting for her to witness this reward on Amy's hard work and achievement.
I could unfortunately not be there. The last weeks of school are very busy with year-end tasks and future planning. I'm learning a lot, sometimes the hard way.
Building the workshop / garage has started in earnest. It took two days, two guys and a nice machine to move topsoil, prepare the ground and place layers of gravel and crushed rock that will form the base for the concrete slab on which the structure will be build. Because we live on a solid gravel bed there is no need to dig 4 feet foundations.
The guys put in drain pipes in the centre of the bays and at the perimeter to pick up water run off.
The electrician will run an underground power line from the house. As soon as that is done the forms can go up.
I expect that the first pour of concrete will happen the middle of this week. There will be a second pour for the walkways and probably a third at the house to prepare for a veranda.
We were outside nearly all Saturday. There was a lot of grass to be cut. I wanted to cut some paths through the bush, just for variety and interest sake. I think it has some good potential.
Ian put up the trampoline. At the end of the day he had a good 'dodge the water' game that he had been looking forward to for a while. Today he has a group of guys over after church. It is great to have the space and type of property that makes company and kids play so easy and so much fun.
This week the students have their last instructional days. We have a year-end assembly, middle school awards assembly, high school awards assembly, first exams, etc.
If the weather continues as it has in the last weeks it promises to be great.
