January shifts

- Photos -

I'm sitting at Vancouver airport, biding my time for my return flight to Smithers. The last few days I was in Langley and Abbotsford for a conference on Project Based Learning.
It was great to also have a chance to visit with Tim on Saturday and Sunday. We went to the Art Gallery, had dinner to celebrate his 22nd birthday, and generally 'hung out'. Sunday we attended Grace Vancouver church and at night visited with Grandpa and Grandma, Wim and Cecile and the boys, in Chilliwack. Heres and Frieda Snijder very hospitably opened their home for me to stay a few nights. Frieda put on a fantastic dinner on Monday night. It was so good to see Mary there as well and connect for a little while.
What a blessing to meet with family and friends, to find everyone in good health, experiencing God's daily blessings. It is such a privilege to not only see God's caring hand in each other's lives but to also hear recognition of this and gratitude expressed repeatedly. It is indeed ' good to walk with the Lord and to rejoice in it.'

The linked photo gallery features photos from the Christmas break. Look at the overview and it will be quickly obvious that much of the focus and activity of the big people centered around the little people, or rather person. Ella was a source of much joy during those two weeks and we miss her now that Jonathan and Judith are back in Kelowna.
We had the usual Christmas fun in the snow outside and with a ginger bread house inside.
Tim made a mashup of the boys' sledding exploits in our yard. Yes, some of these jumps were as high as they look here:
It was not so easy to get back to work after all that but we did. Unfortunately Wilma has not been feeling so well since. A lingering cold has held her back, I guess. The current drop in temperatures in Smithers doesn't help. Wilma tells me that yesterday night went down to -32. The forecast below suggests even lower for tonight. I'm looking forward to that sunshine though. The Fraser Valley was grey and closed-in with quite a bit of snow creating traffic havoc.   Getting back home to Smithers looks very attractive right now.
