It has to be said that a change in the weather can be as good as a change of location. The previous weeks it had often looked and felt as if we were in the Fraser Valley; not a lot of sun or clear skies and a good bit of rain.
This past week we returned to the North. On average -20˚ and clear blue skies.
Not a lot of snow yet, that is forecast for next week.
So, outdoor work is over. Good thing. Looks like we times it right. Now it is nice to have a heated workshop and garage.
We started painting the ceiling board for the studio. I'm putting up sanded pine plywood sheets. Someone advised me to use use regular white acrylic house paint and thin it down with water to create a stain that will still show the grain of the wood. I tried out some pieces first. Looks pretty good. Many we'll have a change at the end of the coming week to put some up.
It will be a busy week again. Four evenings booked already. One is a board meeting.
Our school is proceeding well on route to amalgamation of our elementary campus and high school campus. Coming September we hope to start the school year as a K-12 school on one campus. The preparations for this event involve changes to class structures, room allocations, job assignments, administrative structures. For many of us, principals included our work responsibilities next year might well be very different from this year. It bring, again, a lot of uncertainty. At he same time there is good hope for new beginnings and new opportunities.
We are looking forward to the Christmas break. With snow on the ground it suddenly seems a lot closer.
